One of the 4 great Japanese watch brands, with a powerful in-house movement. Everyone's heard of Seiko and Citizen, which are still around today, but this now dead brand has a long history in watchmaking.

The history of the Ricoh watch company is closely linked with Takano, a Japanese clock manufacturer established in 1899. Takano began producing wall and table clocks and later shifted to wristwatches post-WWII. Despite innovative collaborations with Hamilton and the introduction of notable models, Takano faced challenges and declared bankruptcy in 1961. Ricoh acquired Takano in 1962, rebranding it as Ricoh Watch Ltd. and continuing its watch production, including automatic and quartz watches. Ricoh diversified into electronics, becoming a major multinational corporation that doesn't make these kinds of watches anymore.

This timepiece is running well, no box/papers. Fitted with a handmade racing strap, accentuating the circular patterns on the bezel.

Small scratches on the crystal. See photos for condition before buying.
